DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: but not limited to

DTP (Desktop Publishing) Operations

  • Design and update product labels and packaging to create print-ready files.
  • Request quotes from various packaging suppliers (e.g., labels, bottle printing, packaging wraps).
  • Coordinate the approval process of quotes, purchase orders (POs), and artwork changes.
  • Verify proofs from suppliers, ensuring accuracy before sign-off.
  • Oversee stock receipt, quality checks, and forwarding to designated departments.
  • Maintain supplier communication and document invoicing procedures.

Creative Content Development

  • Research and integrate relevant design trends, photography techniques, and brand strategies.
  • Develop promotional materials for online platforms, social media, and in-store displays.
  • Create visual content for social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.
  • Edit videos and conduct lifestyle product photography.
  • Design visuals for websites, such as banners, product photos, and advertising materials (e.g., Google Ads).
  • Conceptualize and design store window displays, creative merchandise, and posters for print and digital channels.
  • Craft engaging layouts for email campaigns using platforms like Klaviyo.

Design-Specific Tasks

  • Translate design concepts into effective visual solutions for packaging, in-house advertising, posters, and signage.
  • Pre-flight and package print-ready artwork, executing required changes as needed.
  • Retouch photos using Adobe Photoshop and update catalogues, brochures, and client presentations.
  • Create in-store merchandising displays, including shelf talkers and creative materials.
  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative design ideas.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related creative discipline.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of digital design tools, video editing software, and website content management systems (e.g., for updating banners and visuals).
  • Understanding of basic design principles, including colour theory, typography, layout composition, and branding guidelines.
  • Training or certifications in DTP (Desktop Publishing) operations.
  • Familiarity with social media content creation and best practices.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of experience in graphic design, creative content development, or DTP.
  • Proven record of creating designs for social media, packaging, promotional campaigns, and in-store merchandising.
  • Experience working with suppliers for print, packaging, or label production, including coordinating quotes and production.
  • Experience in beauty, lifestyle, retail, or advertising sectors requiring visually appealing branding.
  • Hands-on experience in product/lifestyle photography and video editing for online content.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

REMUNERATION / BENEFITS

SALARY: R 12 000 – R 15 000 per month (Depending on Experience)
