Job description

We are seeking a proactive and reliable IT Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing basic IT support, assisting with the ordering and setup of laptops, and managing new email setups. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused attitude to ensure smooth day-to-day IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Laptop Ordering & Setup:
    • Assist with the ordering and procurement of laptops and other hardware as required.
    • Prepare and configure laptops for new users, ensuring all necessary software and updates are installed.
    • Provide initial setup support for hardware, ensuring devices are connected to necessary networks and systems.
  2. Email Setup & Management:
    • Assist with the creation and configuration of new email accounts for staff.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve email-related issues (e.g., account access, configuration problems, syncing).
  3. Basic IT Support:
    • Provide first-level IT support for hardware and software issues, including troubleshooting and resolving minor problems.
    • Respond to IT helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
    • Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
  4. System Maintenance & Updates:
    • Assist with software updates, system patches, and security checks on user devices.
    • Ensure antivirus software is installed, running, and up-to-date on all devices.
  5. Customer Service & Communication:
    • Maintain clear communication with users to understand their technical issues and provide assistance.
    • Provide basic training and guidance to staff on the use of hardware and software tools.
Requirements

  1. Proven experience in IT support or similar roles (1-2 years preferred).
  2. Knowledge of laptop hardware and basic troubleshooting.
  3. Experience with setting up and managing email accounts (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar).
  4. Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, macOS).
  5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  6. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  7. Good communication skills and customer service attitude.
Preferred Qualifications

  1. Basic experience with networking and server management.
  2. Familiarity with cloud-based software tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, G-Suite).
  3. CompTIA A+ or similar IT certification is a plus.
