Job description

Job Title: IT Helpdesk Support

Responsibilities:

  1. Implementation and operation of an efficient SKAO Helpdesk function.
  2. Software installation and updates.
  3. Integrated IT Services and Availability.
  4. Security and Protection.

Qualifications:

ND (NQF6) in Computer Science / Information Systems / Information Technology or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant IT experience, or NQF5 Training Certificate (such as A+, N+, Cisco, Microsoft or similar) with 6+ years of relevant IT experience.

Experience:

Technical experience in Desktop Support, providing direct IT support when required. Experience in:

  1. Administration of local area wired and wireless networks.
  2. Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Online services like O365.
  3. Cloud products such as Dropbox and Atlassian products.
  4. Layer 3 configuration (Cisco Meraki or similar).
  5. Firewall/VPN support.

Able and willing to work outside of normal working hours occasionally to meet service needs.

Knowledge:

Knowledge and background with IT Service Management disciplines and frameworks, including Change Management, Risk Management, and IT policies (DRP/Security). Infrastructure design.
