This is a fantastic opportunity with a well-funded and proven team of professionals looking to onboard a new team member who wants to join in and be part of their success story.

AFRICAN RAINBOW ENERGY OVERVIEW:

African Rainbow Energy (AREF) is a leading renewables platform with the primary objective of building a modern utility of scale based in South Africa, active across the full energy value chain (including investment into private transmission and grid infrastructure). AREF is a permanent capital vehicle established between African Rainbow Energy and Power (AREP) and Absa Bank Limited (Absa), with the platform seeking to take controlling interest in platforms and projects it invests in and actively participating across the value chain. Currently, AREF is predominantly focused on South Africa, and selectively active in SADC and Sub-Saharan Africa as suitable opportunities arise.

The fund is currently invested in a diversified renewables portfolio of over 1.1GW of REIPPP and C&I private sector offtake projects, and actively working towards closing a large scale battery storage project of c. 150MW by mid-2025.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

The role will actively involve the development and maintenance of critical financial and investment modelling tools, including amongst others, (i) AREF corporate model, (ii) portfolio and fund valuation models, (iii) acquisition modelling and evaluation, and (iv) project equity models for advanced stage pipeline projects etc.
