We are seeking a highly skilled and resilient Interim Procurement Manager to take charge of the procurement operations within a challenging and dynamic marine shipping environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, with a proven track record of managing systems, processes, and operational management. Consulting experience is preferred to bring a strategic perspective and drive improvement in our procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management
Directly set up, plan and manage the entire procurement process, from sourcing and negotiation to contract management and supplier relationship management.
Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and services.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable agreements.
Assess current procurement systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement.
Implement and optimize procurement systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Drive change management initiatives to streamline procurement operations.
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Manage procurement budgets, track expenses, and generate cost-saving initiatives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and deliver timely solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement management, with a focus in the marine shipping industry, or prior experiences in the mining or oil and gas industry is an added advantage.
Proven experience working in a consulting environment, with the ability to provide strategic advice and implement solutions.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Resilient, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards related to marine shipping and procurement.
Ability to lead the project, with a results-oriented and proactive approach.
Experience in marine engineering will be an added advantage.
Proficient in written and spoken English.
You must be willing to relocate and work in Papua New Guinea.
