Position Overview

Crisis24 is hiring an embedded intelligence analyst located in Cape Town, South Africa to join our Embedded Intelligence Services division. Under the Crisis24 Program Manager's general supervision, the Intelligence Analyst III performs global threat monitoring, intelligence analysis and production, investigative research, and disaster response support for one of Crisis24's most valued clients. This position requires shift work that includes regular weekend shifts, and occasional holiday coverage. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid work schedule at Crisis24’s Cape Town office.

What You Will Work On

  1. Review incoming incident notifications and complete proactive research to monitor incidents and events globally.
  2. Determine which incidents warrant a response, and what that response should be.
  3. Use internal tools to promptly inform both internal and external communities as needed.
  4. Draft and coordinate the delivery of preparedness and response messaging for both external and internal audiences.
  5. Recognize the need to make critical business decisions that consider the tradeoffs and benefits of potential options.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Partnership

  1. Effectively participate in incident response with cross-functional teams.
  2. Serve as Point of Contact for the clients team’s responsibilities and actions.
  3. Provide critical updates to stakeholders.

Operational Execution

  1. Actively participate in product and process improvement efforts and collaborate with the operations manager to develop recommendations for improvements.
  2. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Who You Will Work With

The analyst joins Crisis24’s Embedded Intelligence Services division and will be embedded in an established ten-person "follow-the-sun" 24x7x365 team that spans four continents. The individual will collaborate with Crisis24 intelligence and security peers, the dedicated team, as well as the client.

What You Will Bring

  1. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  2. 3 to 5 years of experience in intelligence production, research, journalism, disaster preparedness and response, crisis management, threat assessment, incident response or a related field required.
  3. Demonstrated experience writing clearly, technically, and concisely in a professional setting, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Ability to collect data and synthesize incomplete and contradictory information.
  5. Intimate understanding of deriving information from social media platforms and online tools to conduct research and analysis.
  6. Superb judgment and critical thinking.
  7. Global awareness and understanding with appreciation in how geopolitical, environmental, and security threats can adversely affect a multinational organization.
  8. Ability to take initiative and identify self-improvement areas for own development and the team.
  9. Effective problem-solving and time-management skills.
  10. Working knowledge of Google Earth and Maps or alternative mapping software.
  11. Foreign travel and experience.
