What will you do?
Santam Broker Solutions Operations: Shared Services has an exciting position available for an Instructional Designer position reporting to the Head: Shared Services.
What will make you successful in this role?
Identify critical learning paths, associated learning material and determine best learning mechanism. Design and deliver crucial knowledge capital in a medium that facilitates increased intellectual capital on a learning platform across multiple lines business within Operations executed for multi-function roles. This involves collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders using instructional design principles to create engaging and effective learning modules and experiences that supports the organisational needs and strategy.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Conduct needs analysis assessments to determine learning and content gaps and define roadmap. Determine the appropriate instructional strategy.
  • Design curriculum and course structures, including learning objectives, content, and assessments.
  • Develop detailed storyboards for digital training material, create online courses, videos, podcasts, infographics, and animations in the specific software.
  • Develop detailed instructional plans and storyboards.
  • Design and develop engaging and interactive learning content, associated readiness assessments, including e-learning modules, videos, quizzes, and other digital learning materials.
  • Ensure all content is relevant and kept updated timeously.
  • Manage instructional design projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to gather content and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide training and support for instructors and learners transitioning to the blended learning model on how to use instructional materials and technologies.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and tools to enhance learning experiences.
  • Integrate various instructional methods and technologies to create a blended learning environment.
  • Review and revise instructional materials/content based on feedback and evaluation results.
  • Ensure all materials meet accessibility, usability, and quality standards relevant to business requirements.
  • Stay current with trends, technologies and best practices in instructional design and educational technology/e-learning.
  • Implement innovative instructional strategies to enhance learner engagement and outcomes.
  • Document instructional design processes and decisions.
  • Prepare reports on the effectiveness of instructional materials and interventions.
  • Maintain material and ensure best practice guidelines are followed in the implementation of learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of training to ensure optimal learning and development.

SKILLS
  • Proven experience as a Learning Designer, Instructional Designer, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Proficiency in multimedia design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including facilitation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Utilise agile project management methodologies to design, develop, and deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Demonstrate strong instructional writing skills.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant B-Degree or equivalent in Learning Experience Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a related field.
  • Experience with e-learning development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Education and training qualification (ETDP), specifically design and development advantageous.
  • Proven track record in developing blended and digital learning solutions with significant business impact.
