Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
To report on inspections of mineral commodities, in accordance with instructions received from the Site Supervisor.
Train staff on site regarding sampling.
Administer risk assessments before inspections are conducted.
Monitor field auditors and samplers in terms of the efficiency of activities carried out.
Check timesheets for Blu staff based on supervision of staff.
Compile field reports, photographs, and details summaries for all inspections and upload to SharePoint.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain quality, efficiency, and confidentiality of service.
Liaise with the site supervisor and arrange efficient allocation of staff that limits overtime and promotes safety.
Continuously upgrade the quality of services offered.
Establish, direct, and review the system of application, recording, certification, filing, sample storage, and field auditing.
Communicate with other sample preparation supervisors to achieve the required turnaround time for all submitted samples.
Assign duties and assist when necessary in the coordination of shipments and other fieldwork.
Coordinate and compile spreadsheets of results, updating daily and reporting to clients.
Assist in the efficient administrative running of the office as instructed by the site supervisor.
Implement cost control measures mainly with respect to proper allocation of staff and PPE usage in the field.
Liaise with warehouse and port personnel and arrange inspections.
Ensure compliance with all the requirements of the inspection order (mission order and risk assessment).
Keep direct superior informed regarding progress and/or non-conformance and implement needed corrective action.
Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered, in support of the "Customer Services" policy and minimize client complaints and claims.
Perform general office duties.
Proper implementation of SIR promptly and other SGS platforms needed for inspections.
Attend to inspection operations of mineral cargoes following International Standards and Company Q.A policies and mandates given by the principal.
Carry out and/or supervise all weighing operations if required by the mandate.
Ensure compliance with all the requirements of the inspection order.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
Train staff on site to achieve quality in inspection.
SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
Coordinate and report on inspections timely.
Communicate with the client with accurate and honest findings from inspections.
Guide and assist junior staff and samplers on site.
Key Performance Indicators
100% usage of SIR.
Timely reporting of inspections.
Little to no customer complaints.
Execution of inspections in line with MO & RAM.
Monitoring of staff time on site.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum Grade 12 (Matric), preferably with Maths and Science.
Post-matric qualification in sampling and inspection services.
Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of trade-related experience or similar.
Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write).
Typing skills.
If the incumbent is new in the industry, background and qualifications shall be a criterion.

Calculation capability – To ensure accurate scoring of clients' results.
