Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineer's responsibilities include analyzing operations, crafting workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring that final products meet the established quality standards. The Industrial Engineer will have to ensure that the plant achieves the set performance targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Controls, Management and Counts: Responsible for controls related to material losses within the end to end plant process and work with cross functional teams on reduction activities. Ensure to follow through on cycle counts - Develop a schedule with completion target rate of 90%. You are to assure that you work with a cross functional team, to review the variances and conduct investigations therefore- it is not a single person effort. Schedule and lead variance investigation sessions. For Critical Materials such as Base and Film - These materials are to be counted weekly - Base on Monday and film must have a defined schedule as per above schedule. Material variance detailed RCA and Remediation plan for every inventory count and/or Mi20 report. Clear forward actions with responsibilities and timelines to be developed and ensure closure. Ensure culture of ‘cleaning ‘ obsolete, rejected and / or damaged materials in the month which they occur. Under no condition is scrap to be carried over into the new month.
- MYR and COS Preparations and Disciplines: Works closely with finance department's Plant Controller, firstly to review, analyse and confirm the budgeted volumes per format in both cases and tonnage. Ensures timely completion, accuracy of the capacity utilization exhibit. All details of the exhibit to be reviewed and updated at every review and /or as the need arises. All aspects to be accurately maintained, batch cycle time, AU, line speeds, headcount, batch sizes etc. Timely review and update of rate routings, working hand in hand with Production Planning. Ensuring decks and files are available on time and updated to support Manufacturing Manager and Director of Manufacturing in building their main presentations.
- Reporting & Key Performance Indicators: Facilities source of performance indicators and performance reports - Take full leadership and ownership of the plant Key Performance Indicators - Consolidating and analyzing all the data from the teams. Maintain all your working files in a shared Industrial Engineering Folder for Canelands so it is easily accessible as the need arises, using the New Google Application Monthly PPR. Assure the right data is available to support a detailed AML presentation during Monthly PPR - The data to include status of action plan including root cause and variance analysis- AML trend, Key Ongoing actions. Detailed breakdown for temps, standby allowance and overtime with clear key drivers to be prepared and consolidated in the presentation. Ensure the Funding the Growth (FTG) database is updated timely and data accurately maintained e.g Project status, Implementation dates, Savings etc. Show monthly FTG status during PPR meeting.
- Cost Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Partnering with the Plant Controller to identify cost optimization opportunities and implement. Enviroserv and Waste Management: Evaluate opportunities to optimize on the current process followed with Enviroserv to handle waste in the facility. Assess how best to supervise the efficiency of the team onsite and identify process improvements and implement. Ensure the team delivers a quick turn around time particularly in collecting of waste.
- Documentation/Reports: Reports on CI activities in the plant. Brings together and analyses operations for further investigation in order to recommend corrective action. Report on plant performance and makes information available for the artisans/technicians and other employees on the continuous improvement and efficiency boards.
Required Qualifications:
Diploma (S4) or Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in FMCG industry.
