Hygienist Assistant Services - Mining, EE
Location: 29 Kms from Kethu, Northern Cape, South Africa.
Experience: 2 years | Qualification: NQF 6 in Environmental Health/Science
Preference will be given to women in mining and designated groups in accordance with the Company's Employment Equity Plan.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- To provide the environmental department with accurate data and results obtained through correct monitoring and sampling methodologies to enable legal compliance and effective management decision-making, which includes but is not limited to:
- Risks and stressors
- Reporting
- Compliance implementation and monitoring
- Laboratory maintenance
- Improvement Initiatives
- Compliance requirements
- SHERQ adherence and compliance in own area of work
- Work Ethics
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Health/Science
- Certificate: Occupational Hygiene Assistant SAIOH or Mine Environmental Control Practical (Minerals Council)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two (2) years operational occupational health experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Computer literacy: MS Office (basic user)
- Functional: Occupational diseases, Monitoring skills
- Administrative: Ability to perform data capturing and administrative duties
- Statutory knowledge: Working knowledge of SHERQ, MHSA, and related legislation
- SHERQ Knowledge: Working knowledge of SHERQ related policies and procedures; must be able to explain policies to others
- Equipment: Working knowledge of relevant monitoring equipment i.e., Noise dosimeters, vibration meters, etc.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Medically fit
- Valid Code B/EB driver's license
REGISTRATION / ACCREDITATION:
- SA Institute of Hygiene (SAIOH) Assistant Certificate Occupational Hygiene
- Mine Environmental Control (Minerals Council) certificate Practical

The candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996. Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
