The ideal candidate must be innovative, passionate, self-directed and methodical. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the overall achievement of the strategic and operational goals of the HR function. The incumbent has to take ownership of the talent acquisition and management processes, advise the company on HR related matters, comply with all regulatory requirements, payroll administration and the delivery of HR related projects. The incumbent should demonstrate experience in driving a high-performance culture through impactful initiatives & fair HR policies and practices.
HR Administration & Data Management
Ensuring all forms are completed to conduct necessary checks
Drafting offers & contracts (HR packs)
Completing employee files for audit purposes
Creating and maintaining checklists
Developing a tracker to track all movements within the company
Recruitment & Selection
Performance Management
Improve and execute an effective annual performance management system linked to salary review and incentives to extent appropriate
Drawing up KPI’S with line managers
Ensure that deadlines are met and records are maintained
Provide staff with the necessary support to meet their KPI’S
Sitting in consultations with line managers and non-performers (IR)
Assist with the coaching and training initiatives for staff
Employee Life Cycle
Onboarding of all new employees
Scheduling induction and ensuring completion of program
Ensuring that exit interviews are conducted at the appropriate level and any learnings are escalated
Develop succession plans
Identifying business challenges
Drafting all the relevant documentation for staff in order to perform studies
Drafting of all the necessary agreements
HR Policies and Compliance
Ensuring all policies are up to date in accordance with the necessary legislation
Reviewing all policies quarterly
Ensuring that all policies are signed off by the executives
Identifying business needs and seeing what courses / qualifications inseta offers that would benefit our business
Drafting the workplace skills plan
Liaise with Seta as I am the contact person on behalf of Lion
Ensuring that all staff are registered once qualifications are approved and completing all necessary documentation

Reporting
Monthly reporting on all new joiners and leavers
Maternity reports
Reporting on all disciplinaries
Submission of the annual employment equity report – ensuring that the information is up to date
Reporting on the workplace skills plan
Quarterly report to Human Capital Committee / Board
Monthly attendance and reporting to Exco
Industrial Relations
Drafting of all warnings
Counselling (attendance, record keeping and guidance)
Drafting charges
Ensuring that the disciplinary procedure is followed correctly
Assisting the trainer with the training documentation after a skills gap analysis was conducted
Maintaining registers and ensuring that all staff goes for the necessary training
Health and Safety
Ensuring that the company has a relevant first aider & Fire Marshalls (by ensuring that the training happens before certificates expire)
Chairperson of the Health and safety representatives
Employee Wellness and Employee Engagement
Become trusted advisor to employees through sound advice and confidential access when required
Offering employees assistance in all matters where the company can assist
Develop and execute a plan of regular staff engagements and events to solicit a positive working experience and environment
Overall management of the office and staffing logistical requirements
Payroll Function, Attendance & Leave Management
Preparing and instructing the monthly payroll and ensuring all the supporting documentation is gathered before submission
Recruitment & selection
Drawing up of adverts with the relevant manager
Placing adverts
Shortlisting
Arranging interviews with the necessary panel
Conducting of interviews and being the interview lead
Negotiating with the candidates
Extending the offer and drafting the necessary documentation before onboarding occurs
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in HR / Industrial Psychology or equivalent qualification
Between 3 – 5 years of experience in HR Manager / generalist role
3-5 years experience in the Insurance industry would be advantageous
