An Independent, Christian day school situated in Melrose, Johannesburg, Kingsmead provides an excellent, all-rounded education to girls from Grade to Matric.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

The school wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to the position of Human Resources Manager. This exciting opportunity exists for someone who would be dedicated to nurturing a culture of innovation, inclusivity and development for all staff.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our school and contribute to, and maintain, the culture and ethos of Kingsmead College.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR Management and be passionate about the development and well-being of our incredible staff.

The Human Resources Manager will report directly to the Executive Head of the College and will meet regularly with the Head of the Junior School, the management teams and staff. This role will also report into the Human Capital Chair of Council on strategic matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement HR policies, procedures and best practices that are forward-thinking in HR development and to ensure compliance with all applicable South African laws and regulations.
  2. Oversee the entire recruitment process, from job posting to onboarding, and work to attract and retain high-quality staff.
  3. Oversee and manage all Employment Equity as part of the strategic objective of the school; including, but not limited to, plans and goal setting for the school.
  4. Oversee the payroll for the whole College and all associated statutory requirements.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to manage employee relations in line with the school's ethos.
  6. Act as the liaison between leadership and staff to address questions, concerns and to resolve any issues ensuring an innovative, creative and productive team.
  7. Co-ordinate professional development opportunities for all staff and support career growth.
  8. Facilitate and grow the Internship programme at Kingsmead College.
  9. Remain up-to-date with labour law and HR trends to ensure compliance and alignment with best practices.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the alignment of HR strategies with the strategic objectives of Kingsmead College.

The candidate must have:

  1. An appropriate University degree and professional qualification.
  2. Proven track record of HR Management.
  3. An unequivocal commitment to the evolving vision of Kingsmead College and its strategic intent.
  4. A willingness to learn more about and to implement change management strategies.
  5. Excellent people-management and communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships.
  7. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  8. An ability to liaise and engage with staff with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  9. A commitment to transformation, inclusion and diversity.
  10. Self-motivation and be capable of working effectively with a high degree of independence.
  11. Confidence to handle situations and work under pressure.
  12. Previous experience in an academic institution will be an advantage.
