Job description

Our client, a leading organization based in Johannesburg Gauteng, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join their team on an immediate contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of HR practices and a proactive approach to partnering with management to drive business success through effective people strategies.

Responsibilities

Provide HR Policy Guidance

  1. Provide Human Resources (HR) policy guidance and interpretation.
  2. Ensure compliance with relevant HR and labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, etc.) and all Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Facilitate and manage the implementation of all HR policies and procedures.

Business Performance Development

  1. Provide day-to-day performance development guidance to line management (i.e., coaching, counseling, career development, etc.).
  2. Facilitate and promote workplace culture, employee engagement, and feedback.
  3. Analyse workforce information and productivity measures and work with line management to implement performance development.
  4. Analyse results of the process and facilitate the implementation and interventions to improve performance results.

Training

  1. Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  2. Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
  3. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.

Recruitment and Selection

  1. Provide guidance and input on business unit structures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  2. Manage the recruitment, selection, and appointment process ensuring that the right person for the job is appointed in line with the Recruitment and Selection Policy.
  3. Ensure proper onboarding and integration of new hires.

Risk Management

  1. Identify and report HR-related risks including potential risks and develop strategies and implementation plans to minimize/eliminate risks.

Talent Management

  1. Work closely with management to identify and develop future staffing and talent needs.
  2. Talent attraction and management.

Employee Relations (ER)

  1. Work closely with management and employees to help facilitate positive employee relations, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  2. Manage and resolve complex ER matters. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  3. Represent the company at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA).
  4. Manage employment equity.

HR Reporting and Administration

  1. Prepare, collate, and consolidate weekly, monthly, and quarterly HR reports.
  2. Communicate HR report data (overtime, leave, etc.) findings and trends in a concise and easy-to-understand format.
  3. Manage any ad-hoc analysis requests related to HR reports.
  4. Manage daily payroll and HR-related inquiries by employees including shift, overtime, etc.
  5. Ensure remuneration information is communicated accurately and timeously to Payroll.
  6. Ensure engagements and terminations are processed timeously and submitted to Payroll within agreed timelines.

Customer Relations

  1. Work with clients to build management responsibility and capability for managing ER issues and improve the effectiveness of employee consultations.
  2. Consult with internal clients to ensure understanding of HR employee value proposition (EVP).

Team Management

  1. Train, motivate, coach, and lead the team.
  2. Measure and monitor team performance and ensure discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in HRM / Industrial Psychology
  • Professional registration as an HRBP will be advantageous
  • Minimum of eight years experience resolving complex employee relations matters
  • Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including compensation and benefits, talent management, employee and union relations, diversity inclusion, performance development, and HR legislation
  • Solid change and project management
  • Knowledge of HR systems including SAGE, SmartHR, or similar and able to extract data appropriately and manipulate it for reporting and analytical purposes

Education

Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in HRM / Psychology
