Human Resources Manager - Krugersdorp, Johannesburg

Our manufacturing/engineering client in Krugersdorp seeks the expertise of a Human Resources Manager with solid 5 years plus IR experience with blue-collar staff.

Salary: UP TO R 1.2 mil CTC plus bonus

Working Hours: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (M-T) and 7:30 am to 1:00 pm (Friday)

Position Type: Permanent

Start date: As soon as possible

Industry Type: Manufacturing/Engineering/Technical

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Matric with Degree in Human Resources
  2. Labour Relations Qualification
  3. 8 years plus experience within Human Resources – blue-collar and unions
  4. 8 years plus HR/IR/ER Management experience
  5. Minimum 5+ years relevant IR experience in a unionised manufacturing/engineering/technical industry
  6. Minimum 5 years' experience in strategic leadership
  7. Computer literacy – MS Office, SAGE, and ERS time and attendance
  8. Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, safety, hiring, and employee relations; able to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations

Key Duties:

  1. IR Responsibilities:
    1. Manage employee relations: Handle employee grievances, disputes, and complaints
    2. Ensure compliance: Make sure the company complies with labour laws, including wage and hour laws, safety regulations, and other employment-related laws
    3. Develop policies: Create and implement policies and procedures related to industrial relations
    4. Negotiate: Oversee negotiations with unions
    5. Mediation: Help resolve conflicts and disputes between employees and management
    6. Training: Ensure that line management are regularly updated and trained in industrial relations procedures
    7. Implement programs: Create programs to reward achievements and encourage positive behaviour
    8. Provide advice: Advise management on industrial relations issues, workforce planning, and productivity issues
    9. Prepare reports: Prepare and present reports and recommendations to management
    10. Chair Employment Equity Meetings: Attend monthly meetings and provide feedback to management and resolve any disputes and/or queries
  2. HR Responsibilities:
    1. Recruitment: Oversee the recruitment process, including candidate sourcing and selection
    2. Training: Plan and implement training programs for employees
    3. Employee relations: Oversee employee relations, including resolving disputes and complaints
    4. Performance management: Manage employee performance
    5. Payroll Management: Manage and upload time and attendance data for Production Director approval of waged staff hours and overtime in payroll software
    6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations
    7. Benefits: Manage employee benefits, including payroll and other services
    8. Culture: Maintain the company culture and advise executives on workplace conduct policies
    9. Safety: Work closely with Safety Officer to create and maintain a safe work environment and implement safety programs
    10. Employee Records and Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases
    11. Disciplinary actions: Handle disciplinary actions and grievance issues including if matters are referred to the CCMA
