HR Generalist

Applications are invited for the HR Generalist position to be based in Stellenbosch.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The HR Generalist drives and executes the organisation's human resources by planning and implementing employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

Recruitment:

1. Drafting and posting job advertisements, sourcing candidates through various methods, selection, interviewing, facilitating any testing (including psychometric testing), background checks, screening, drafting offers, and employment contracts.
2. Assist with competency-based interviews.

Onboarding:

1. Execute all tasks related to recruitment, selection, and onboarding of all new employees.
2. Assist with the onboarding of new employees.

HR Administration:

1. Ensure Payroll input is done according to the set due dates from the Payroll department.
2. Assist with employee payroll enquiries.
3. Facilitate remuneration processes, including annual increases, bonus awards, increases, etc.
4. Responsible for maintaining employee records, including safety measures to ensure that access is limited to authorized persons, in line with POPI and employment law.
5. Report on trends and metrics monthly and on an ad hoc basis.
6. Compliance and policy implementation.
7. Advising managers and employees regarding HR policies and processes.

Labour Relations:

1. Advising managers and employees on disciplinary processes, including misconduct, incapacity, grievances, and other dispute resolution processes.
2. Attend all disciplinary & dispute hearings internally in capacity of HR. Train and coach line managers in respect of IR practices.
3. Provide advice and guidance to Managers and Team Leaders on people management, employment and industrial relations matters.
4. Coordinate the performance management processes as well as collection of all performance agreements.
5. Represent the company at the CCMA as and when required, preparing documentation and presenting cases in conciliation, arbitration, and mediation sessions.

Talent Management:

1. Support and advise management and employees on any talent management policies or processes as required, e.g., development conversations, performance reviews, etc.
2. Conduct exit interviews, investigate, and highlight areas for improvement within the business.

Offboarding:

1. Ensure that terminations received are submitted to payroll.
2. Facilitate collection of company property and related administration.

Employment Law Compliance:

1. Ensure compliance with all employment and labour law requirements including but not limited to employment contracts, employment equity, workplace health, industrial relations, in respect of terms of registration, documentation, reporting, systems, and procedures within the scope of duties.
2. Ensure proper HR record keeping in line with good practice and labour legislation.
3. Advise on appropriate actions to be taken to address issues identified in the exit interviews to retain internal talent.
4. Payroll, Remunerations, and Benefits.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

1. Sound knowledge of BCEA, EEA, LRA, OHS, COIDA, and other relevant HR Legislation.
2. Microsoft Office proficient.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

1. Minimum 3 years’ generalist HR experience is essential.
2. Grade 12 or Equivalent.
3. B degree or Diploma in HR.
