HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

Founded in 1877, Durban Girls’ College is a leading independent Christian girls’ school with a proud history, which offers an innovative, forward looking and relevant education for girls from Grade 00 to Matric.

The suitably qualified and experienced candidate should be dynamic, caring and innovative, and have a progressive approach to teaching.

Requirements:

• Good all-round knowledge of Information Technology with a passion for the subject
• Relevant teaching qualification from a recognized institution
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years teaching experience
• Experience in teaching Information Technology to matric level, preferably within the IEB syllabus
• Well-developed inter-personal skills with the ability to lead and inspire
• An excellent command of and experience in written English
• Sound computer and digital literacy skills
• Proficiency in Java programming
• SACE registered

Job Responsibilities:

• Teaching Information Technology to Grade 10, 11 and 12 pupils
• Teach Grade 8 and 9 basic computer skills, robotics and coding
• Assisting students who need extra support
• Be prepared to assist in extra-mural programmes of the school
• Stay current with industry trends and developments to ensure relevant teaching
• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet academic standards and cater to students’ needs
