To ensure all Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Requirements and applicable facilities requirements are implemented, maintained, monitored and verified in line with statutory requirements as well as Company Policies and Procedures.
Enforce full compliance to OHS Act and Company SHE Policies and Procedures
Audit SHE programs and OHS requirements as per statutory schedules
Co-ordinate all on-site SHE activities and inspections
Perform and complete workplace and job activity risk assessments and safety inspections
Implement and maintain required OHS Program documentation and records
Facilitate OHS Induction and Awareness Program including training
Accept responsibility as Fire Fighter Co-ordinator and direct activities of Fire Fighting Team
Co-ordinate First Aid, Fire Fighting and Forklift Operator requirements and training
Implement Workplace Health & Safety Programs and facilitate training of same
Co-ordinate the roll-out to implementation of key SHE projects and programs
Pro-actively support SHE Representatives, Line Supervision and Management with the implementation and continued correct use of relevant SHE and OHS documentation
Periodically revise SHE Checklists as required and assist SHE Representatives with reports in preparation for Monthly SHE Meetings
Chair and minute Monthly SHE Meeting, and follow-through on required actions
Integrate Food Safety requirements into the SHE Program to ensure compliance
Attend to after-hours Incidents & Accidents
Oversee and assist with activities of on-site Staff Canteen and Laundry
Initiate, implement and monitor SHE applicable 20 Keys Continuous Improvement initiatives
Submit weekly / monthly SHE Management Reports
Assist Risk Manager where required including relief function for annual leave purposes
Perform any other ad hoc tasks that may be required by the Company
The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements
Recognised SHERQ / SHE / OHS qualification with at least 3 years post-qualification relevant work experience
Alternatively, Grade 12 with demonstrable in-depth knowledge of all relevant OHS legislation and Best Practices, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or related role
Experience within the food manufacturing sector will be an added advantage
Incident & Accident and/or Root Cause Analysis training certificate
Food Safety training certificate advantageous
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
Fluent in English and Afrikaans (knowledge of other local languages advantageous)
Well-developed communication (verbal, written, report writing) skills
Strong administrative, organisational, interpersonal and time management skills
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision as part of a culturally diverse team
Hardworking, honest, self-motivated and disciplined
Ability to cope well under pressure
Familiar with the application of Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures
Availability to work extended hours, weekends and Public Holidays when required
A valid code 8 driver’s license and own reliable transport
