Job description

Job title: Health and Safety Coordinator

Job Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Deadline: April 26, 2025

Operational Delivery:

  1. Coordinate safety training and awareness programs for call center employees
  2. Investigate incidents and accidents, and prepare reports
  3. Collaborate with management to implement corrective actions
  4. Monitor and maintain health and safety records and statistics
  5. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  6. Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans
  7. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a safe working environment
  8. Perform other health and safety-related duties as assigned
  9. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures
  10. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks
  11. Investigate and report any accidents, injuries, or near-misses that occur in the workplace
  12. Maintain and update safety records and documentation
  13. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills
  14. Support the Health and Safety Officer in conducting risk assessments and recommending corrective actions
  15. Review and analyze data on incidents and injuries to identify trends and recommend improvements
  16. Upload all required documents to the relevant portals
  17. Stay up-to-date with current health and safety regulations and best practices
  18. 1st Aid equipment checklist

Customer Focus:

  1. Work with teams to develop and maintain a customer-focused attitude toward activities
  2. Handle general queries regarding HSE issues within the working environments
  3. Interact with clients to provide and process information in response to enquiries, concerns and requests
  4. Work with processes and procedures in such a way that operational efficiencies and performance are enhanced
  5. Attend to and resolve all client queries timeously or escalate when necessary
  6. Follow up and follow through on all escalated queries timeously

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Computer literate on MS Office packages – MS Word, Outlook, Excel
  2. 3-4 years of experience in health and safety or a related field
  3. Industrial occupational hygiene & fire prevention & protection
  4. OHS Act, WCA / COID, NOSA / ISO Safety standards
  5. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  10. Time Management Skills

Qualifications:

  1. Matric
  2. National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (NQF5 or equivalent)
