Job Purpose

To provide strategic leadership and vision, support, technical guidance, thought leadership and delivery of the staff advocacy and volunteerism programme to ensure that the portfolio responds to needs in a scalable, sustainable, and agile way while providing a rewarding high-quality experience for Nedbank’s incredible volunteers. Further advance sustainable practices and create a positive impact in both the environment, economy and society across all regions where Nedbank operates.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Align Enterprise-Wide Socio-Economic Impact Strategy
  2. Lead the development and coordinate implementation of the staff advocacy and volunteerism strategy which translates into the successful delivery for increasing our volunteer numbers, growth and work to shape and improve the whole volunteer journey from recruitment and induction through to reward and recognition and everything in between.
  3. Provide strategic guidance to the Executive Head of Social Impact, enhancing the positioning and strategic programmatic direction of staff advocacy and volunteerism.
  4. Further enhance Nedbank’s position as the thought and knowledge leader for staff advocacy and volunteerism through learning, knowledge management, generation, and application of evidence to programmes and initiatives at scale.
  5. Lead the revitalization of the function to match staff advocacy vision.
  6. Provide leadership in the integration and effective linkages across all existing Green Economy Projects; Donations portfolio; legacy and all affinities including NMCF; ACT; Sports Trust and Green Trust, as well as cross-clusters programme collaboration to align and maximize Green Economy’s support in clusters, across the enterprise.
  7. Work closely with the Staff Advocacy and Volunteer Portfolio Manager to develop, expand, and improve volunteerism opportunities, policies and procedures, quality standards and assurance processes to ensure an exceptional volunteer programme.
  8. Oversee the preparation, approval and implementation of the portfolio’s budget in conformity with the general rules and procedures of the Bank.
  9. Lead/Support the staff volunteerism portfolio manager and team with all communications, events, and activations moments to ensure alignment to the Branding policy.
  10. Collaborate with culture and transformation lead/teams across clusters and local and Africa regions to provide support and guidance in implementing the staff advocacy and volunteerism strategy, initiatives and activities, and lead the analysis of outputs and outcomes.
  11. Develop and capitalize on new and emerging opportunities for innovation.
  12. Lead and manage an active strategic portfolio of programs and set high-quality performance targets ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and SROI guidelines to drive performance.
  13. Oversee partnerships and ensure strong lines of communication and collaboration are established and maintained with all existing Green Economy Projects; Donations portfolio; NSDF; Eyethu; Legacy and all affinities including NMCF; ACT; Sports Trust and Green Trust.
  14. Oversee the systematic collection of data and metrics throughout the Enterprise wide with a goal to drive success against goals and measure effectiveness of initiatives.
  15. Support verification of all supporting documentation for preparation of accurate financial reports, including monthly and quarterly disbursement reports and financial reports of implementing Partners’ financial reports and other financial documents when required in coordination with the Head operations and governance and team.
  16. Support preparation for and support of the annual project audits, and financial spot checks, regular follow-up to audit recommendations in coordination with operations & governance team.
  17. Manage team effectively and efficiently across the HR value chain, including recruitment, performance management, retention of critical staff, succession planning and coaching and talent management.
People Specification

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

Minimum Experience Level

7 - 10 years in Public Affairs, Staff Volunteerism, Social Impact and Investments, Monitoring and Evaluation
