Role Context

Lead the implementation and tactical management of the Treasury function and strategy for the SSA region (41 countries). Effectively manage cash, funding, banking relationships and financial risk. Set and implement structures to optimize capital and legal entity structures in line with business objectives, policy, guidelines, regulations and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. In collaboration with the SSA finance team and country CFOS and Country Managers and with leadership from the SSA CFO:
2. Provide input into sub-functional strategy of the Treasury function in SSA, considering business objectives, policy, guidelines, regulations and compliance requirements of DHL as well as individual country treasury regulations.
3. Plan for short-term financial requirements and lead management of cash holdings, cash flows and borrowings to achieve guaranteed liquidity and minimize risk exposure.
4. Continuously evaluate and recommend investment options, funding sources and financial instruments aligned with overall financial and business objectives for the full SSA region.
5. Provide guidance and support to the country finance teams and regional COE functions for efficient management of collections and disbursements.
6. Guide and review investment planning, administration and continuous monitoring.
7. Monitor performance and security of credit, working and depository accounts held with local and international banking and investment institutions across the 41 countries.
8. Monitor and analyze business and financial developments affecting Treasury initiatives and activities, providing insights and guidance to the SSA financial function.
9. Lead and monitor compliance of treasury processes and activities in accordance with policies, standards, regulations and laws.
10. Analyze challenges and areas of opportunities, recommending new ideas, concepts, processes and best practices.
11. Lead negotiations within the Treasury function area e.g. with banking institutions to negotiate rates and terms for best-fit solutions based on each country's treasury requirements.
12. Consolidate banking providers across SSA with the appointment of a regional banking provider where possible.
13. Establish and maintain relationships with various banks, financial institutions, and other financial community members e.g. Standard Bank (SSA RO bankers), various local banks, South African and other country reserve banks.
14. Manage sourcing of foreign currency to pay and settle network fees.
15. Commodity trades to pay and settle network fees where necessary.
16. Communicate and influence senior business leaders (AMB, Country SMT) outside of own job area to accept practices and approaches.
17. Collaborate with Regional Finance COEs to implement best approaches in treasury across SSA.
18. Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders across DHL.
19. Cooperate with and coordinate 3rd parties e.g. banks, country reserve banks.

Minimum Requirements

Education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Financial Management.

Skills

• More than 8 years across multiple geographies and currencies (preferably in Africa) with specific experience in:
  Treasury Management, Cash Flow, Funding, Banking, Credit, Financial Institutions, Risk Management, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Compliance, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, Forecasting, Liability, Business Processes, Business Strategy, Project Management (treasury projects), Stakeholder Management, Influencing, Feedback, Presentation, Facilitation, Negotiation.
• Added advantage would be experience in DHL Financial Policies, DHL Business Knowledge.
