Are you a leader looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience of delivering complex operational services and leading service delivery teams with a strategic oversight? If so, this may be the career opportunity you have been looking for.
An opportunity has arisen within the North Region for a Head of Service with an initial geographical responsibility for the Western and Northern Isles sector. The successful candidate will be based within the North Region and will be responsible for delivery of A&E and PTS services on the Islands, as well as leading on region-wide and national project work where required. There will also be line management responsibility for the Business Support Function, Administration, and Work Force Planning Teams.
This is a key strategic post for service delivery in the Region, and the successful candidate will be an individual who has experience working at middle management level (or above). We will want to see a proven track record of achievement in operations/service delivery, and you’ll need to demonstrate you can operationalize strategic objectives. Applicants should be able to demonstrate well-developed leadership and management skills and have extensive experience of leading high-performing teams. You’ll also need to show us you have experience of working within a complex organization delivering and meeting performance targets, and that you can lead staff who work over a large geographic area.
Stakeholder engagement is a key part of the role, and you would need to have recent experience of working with and influencing partners in health, social care, and the wider emergency services or similar. This is not a 9 to 5 job, and any successful candidate would need to be willing to be flexible about where they are working on a day-to-day basis and what hours they work to meet the needs of the service, our staff, and the communities we serve.
There will be a requirement to participate in a North Region Senior on-call rota.
If you think this might be the next role for you, then informal enquiries should be made to Euan Esslemont, Deputy Regional Director, North Region on 07920271800.
It is envisaged that Interviews will be held on 28 / 29 April 2025.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
