Head of Learning and Organisational Development
12-Month Contract | Hybrid Work Model | Leading South African Bank

We're on the lookout for a seasoned and strategic Capability Development Lead to drive two pivotal projects aimed at building a robust learning ecosystem within a prominent commercial and retail banking environment. This role is instrumental in delivering capability-building initiatives across multiple clusters, with a concentrated focus on Risk Management, Audit, ESG, Sustainable Development Goals, and Sustainable Finance.

You'll play a key role in shaping the future of learning in the bank by designing, delivering, and embedding impactful learning frameworks and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Finalise the bank-wide Learning Framework for core and strategic skills development across clusters and processes.
  2. Establish and onboard expert SME teams to provide guidance on skillsets, tools, and implementation needs.
  3. Review and validate current learning solutions and vendor recommendations.
  4. Conduct external benchmarking and assess viable solution options.
  5. Map proposed learning solutions to business needs and develop a costed delivery model.
  6. Design, source, or scale targeted learning offerings for defined audiences.
  7. Oversee the rollout and adoption of academies across the business.
  8. Integrate existing development programmes into the broader learning ecosystem.
  9. Monitor and report on impact, aligned to defined business case metrics.
  10. Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence at senior leadership level.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Learning & Development, Organisational Development, Human Resources, or related field.
  2. Proven experience leading complex learning and development projects within the financial services sector.
  3. Deep knowledge and application of learning design, frameworks, and implementation at scale.
  4. Subject matter expertise in Risk, Audit, ESG, and Sustainable Finance.
  5. Demonstrated success in senior stakeholder engagement and influence.

Technical Skills:

  1. Solid understanding of modern L&D methodologies and technologies.
  2. Competence in assessing vendor solutions and aligning them with business requirements.
  3. Strong project and programme management skills, including costing and delivery planning.
  4. Experience in integrating learning academies and enterprise-wide development initiatives.
