Purpose:

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the full financial management function, with a strong emphasis on cash flow management, financial planning and operational execution.

This role requires hands-on involvement in financial operations, ensuring compliance, optimising working capital and driving financial efficiency to support business growth.

The role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting and financial risk management while collaborating closely with key stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Cash flow and treasury management:

• Proactively manage the company's cash flow and liquidity position to ensure financial stability.
• Forecast and monitor cash flow to align with business needs and strategic objectives.
• Manage banking relationships, payment cycles and funding strategies to optimise working capital.
• Implement and maintain robust cash management processes to mitigate financial risks.

Financial operations & control:

• Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and procurement.
• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
• Implement financial controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial leakage.
• Streamline finance processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Budgeting & forecasting:

• Lead the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial planning cycles.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure budget alignment and cost management.
• Track financial performance against budgets and identify variances proactively.

Financial reporting & compliance:

• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of management reports and financial statements.
• Oversee statutory and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with tax and financial regulations.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial legislation and reporting standards.

Business partnering & strategic finance:

• Work closely with business to provide financial guidance and insights.
• Develop financial models to support business decisions, investments, and new projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and drive profitability.
• Support financing strategies and commercial negotiations.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications & experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior financial management role.
• Proven experience in cash flow management, financial operations, and strategic finance.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and experience in financial reporting and compliance.
• Experience in managing finance teams and driving operational excellence.
• Telecoms or technology industry experience is advantageous.
