Head of Finance

An innovative and rapidly expanding fresh vegetable producer is seeking an operational, hands-on, yet commercially strong, and strategically minded, Head of Finance to join their team near Paarl, Western Cape. The company leverages the latest farming methodology to target environmentally friendly, and higher-yield crops. Their client base includes major retailers, and they also supply produce to all well-known fast food brands in the Western Cape.

This is an ideal role for that candidate that is not scared to “walk the floor”; put in processes, and generally assist in growing the organisation exponentially. You will be comfortable getting your hands dirty, and you will have a passion for agriculture.

The company is investing hugely in further production facilities to accommodate demand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work hand in hand with the Founder and General Manager in running, and developing the farms
• Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
• Analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making
• Manage financial relationships with banks, auditors, and institutions
• Manage costs on SKU’s and BOM’s
• Build, lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
• Identify and mitigate financial risks
• Implement an effective inventory system

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified CA(SA); CGMA is preferred, with a minimum of a relevant degree in accounting or finance. Suitable experience is the key factor.
• 5 years minimum of experience working in a managerial/leadership role within agriculture/manufacturing etc.
• Down to earth, and comfortable dealing with all levels of a farming organisation, from labourer to investor.

Salary:

• R1 000 000 - R1 600 000 / annum CTC heavily dependent on experience
