What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and/or skillsets:
- B ED/ B Degree.
- Post Graduate Certificate of Education.
- Must be able to teach Physical Education Grades 8 to 12.
- SACE Registered.
- Driver’s License with a Public Drivers Permit.
- 5 years teaching experience.
- Experience in managing sport/culture activities.
The responsibilities are:
School planning and administration
- Create a climate conducive for sport/culture participation.
- Collate year planner for extracurricular activities across the school.
- Create and distribute extracurricular activities termly plans.
- Create and distribute the staff duties plan.
- Create and distribute the afternoon extracurricular plan.
- Parent meetings and communications relating to extracurricular activities.
- Setting up a Sport and Culture budget and managing the budget.
- Fulfil duties as requested by the Operational Head.
Management of Extracurricular activities across the High School
- Oversee roll out of termly curriculum activities into weekly planners.
- Regular Meetings with Sport/Culture Managers
- Manage and assign educators to the various sporting codes as Managers and Coaches
- Attend functions and extra-murals as needed.
- Communicate all relevant correspondence with all the sport/culture managers and coaches.
- Ensure that sport/culture meetings are attended on behalf of the school.
- Communication and relationship building with learners and parents (newsletters, sporting letters, outings letters etc.)
- Keep and manage all sports/culture equipment and stock.
Interventions and discipline
- Review and enforcement of policies and procedures in conjunction with management
- Management of interventions regarding learner extramural needs
- Create a code of conduct regarding extracurricular activities
Event management and planning
- Set up calendar of extracurricular events annually for the High School
- Design and manage duty rosters for events
- Management and execution of events from start to finish
- Innovation relating to new events
- Management of award process including certificates, invitations, programmes, and bookings
Teaching
- Effective subject planning, and training
- Show empathy, trust, discipline, and authority.
- Maintain healthy teacher/learner relationships.
- Ensure successful handling of conflict situations.
- Follow healthy classroom routines.
- Initiate effective learning and self-empowerment.
- Treat each learner as an individual in him/herself.
- Support each learner towards his/her own needs.
- Acknowledge each learner’s basic human rights.
- Always act with accountability and responsibility.
- Be truthful to learners.
The successful candidate will start on 01 February 2025.
