Job Description

Job Title: Music Head of Department (HOD)

Location: Southdowns College, Centurion, Gauteng

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Music Head of Department to lead our music program and team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education, a strong background in music theory and performance, and the ability to inspire and mentor students and colleagues alike.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and oversee the curriculum for the music department, ensuring alignment with educational standards and goals
2. Lead and supervise a team of music teachers, providing support and guidance as needed
3. Coordinate music events and performances, including concerts, recitals, and competitions
4. Organize and participate in professional development opportunities for music staff and students
5. Manage the department budget and resources effectively
6. Collaborate with other departments and external partners to enhance the music program

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education or related field
2. Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in music, preferably in a school setting
3. Strong knowledge of music theory, composition, and performance techniques
4. Experience in curriculum development and assessment
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to lead and motivate a team of educators
7. Passion for music education and a commitment to student success
