Job description

The Head of Content is responsible for setting the overall content strategy, defining quality standards, and interpreting performance data to drive continuous improvement. This is a strategic, customer-facing role that ensures content aligns with business goals and delivers measurable impact. The position requires strong analytical skills, leadership, and expertise in B2B content marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Roadmapping

  1. Develop and maintain comprehensive content strategies tailored to customer needs.

  2. Define and oversee content roadmaps, ensuring alignment with client goals and overall marketing strategy.

  3. Set standards and specifications for content, ensuring consistency and high quality across all assets.

  4. Provide strategic direction to copywriters, editors, designers, and other creatives.

  5. Lead content ideation and innovation, ensuring strategies evolve with market trends.

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  1. Set content goals and KPIs, aligning with customer acquisition, engagement, and retention objectives.

  2. Analyze content performance metrics (traffic, engagement, conversion, etc.) to determine effectiveness.

  3. Interpret data from Google Analytics, CRM reports, and other tools to assess impact.

  4. Provide insights and recommendations for content optimization based on analytics.

  5. Report performance results to key stakeholders and coach the team on data-driven content improvements.

Customer & Cross-Team Collaboration

  1. Work directly with customers to define their content strategies and align with their business goals.

  2. Collaborate with Growth, Account Management, and Production teams to ensure smooth execution.

  3. Act as the primary strategist guiding the creative team on content direction.

  4. Train and mentor internal teams on content best practices and strategic execution.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  1. Drive continuous improvement in content quality, effectiveness, and alignment with lifecycle stages.

  2. Identify opportunities for workflow efficiencies, ensuring content is created and published smoothly.

  3. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to evolve content strategies.

  4. Advocate for data-driven decision-making, ensuring insights fuel strategy adjustments.

Key Tasks & Deliverables

Content Strategy & Direction

  1. Develop detailed content roadmaps per customer.
  2. Lead strategy sessions with customers and internal teams.
  3. Define content themes, messaging pillars, and distribution plans.
  4. Set up content workflows for execution.

Data Analysis & Performance Reporting

  1. Track, analyze, and report on content effectiveness metrics.
  2. Identify and recommend strategy adjustments based on performance data.
  3. Develop scorecards and dashboards for content impact measurement.

Training & Leadership

  1. Coach teams on content best practices, goal-setting, and measurement.
  2. Guide Account Management on communicating content impact to customers.
  3. Stay ahead of industry changes and update strategies accordingly.

7+ years in content strategy, marketing, or editorial leadership. Strong experience in B2B content marketing, SEO, and performance analytics. Deep knowledge of Google Analytics, HubSpot, CRM reporting, and content performance metrics. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide teams and customers. Experience setting content roadmaps, workflows, and quality standards. Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to content strategy.
