Head of Competence Centre Finance & HR

The Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAGCC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Finance & HR to lead their Competence Centre in Johannesburg. This strategic role offers the opportunity to manage a dedicated team, report directly to the CEO, and collaborate closely with leadership across Southern Africa and Germany.

With offices across Southern Africa, SAGCC has been strengthening business relations between Germany and Southern Africa since 1952. They are a trusted partner for trade facilitation, economic insight, and bilateral cooperation.

Your Role

As Head of Finance & HR, you will:

1. Manage a team of three within the Finance & HR Competence Centre
2. Oversee bookkeeping, payroll, and annual financial planning
3. Prepare reports for local and international stakeholders (incl. IFRS and German standards)
4. Drive monthly forecasting and cash flow planning
5. Lead the annual audit process and ensure statutory compliance (SARS, VAT, etc.)
6. Consolidate financials for our offices in Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
7. Maintain HR files and support the introduction of full cost accounting structures

Who You Are

Requirements:

1. Degree or diploma in finance / accounting with 5+ years of relevant experience
2. Strong knowledge of SA accounting, tax, and payroll systems (Sage Pastel advantageous)
3. Confident communicator able to present financials clearly to various audiences
4. German language skills (B2 level or above) are a strong advantage
5. High level of independence and strong team spirit
