Head of Buying

What you will be doing:

• Leading and inspiring a team of buyers to achieve high performance.
• Setting clear goals, providing guidance and monitoring performance to meet targets.
• Developing and implementing strategies to attract, keep and develop a team of the best talent.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers both locally and internationally.
• Negotiating contracts and pricing to get the best possible value.
• Managing supplier performance ensuring quality standards and delivery schedules are met.
• Resolving any supplier-related issues quickly and effectively.
• Developing and implementing a procurement strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business goals.
• Finding and sourcing new suppliers both locally and internationally.
• Managing the procurement process from start to finish ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Keeping an eye on market trends and finding opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Driving performance and achieving key procurement metrics such as cost savings, quality and delivery.
• Implementing performance management systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Reporting directly to the exec board.

What our client is looking for:

• A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial (Business, Supply Chain Management etc.)
• Extensive experience in retail.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers both locally and internationally.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address performance gaps.
• Results-oriented and driven to achieve key procurement metrics.
