What you will be doing:
Leading and inspiring a team of buyers to achieve high performance.
Setting clear goals, providing guidance and monitoring performance to meet targets.
Developing and implementing strategies to attract, keep and develop a team of the best talent.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers both locally and internationally.
Negotiating contracts and pricing to get the best possible value.
Managing supplier performance ensuring quality standards and delivery schedules are met.
Resolving any supplier-related issues quickly and effectively.
Developing and implementing a procurement strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business goals.
Finding and sourcing new suppliers both locally and internationally.
Managing the procurement process from start to finish ensuring efficiency and compliance.
Keeping an eye on market trends and finding opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Driving performance and achieving key procurement metrics such as cost savings, quality and delivery.
Implementing performance management systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Reporting directly to the exec board.
What our client is looking for:
A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial (Business, Supply Chain Management etc.)
Extensive experience in retail.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills both written and verbal.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers both locally and internationally.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address performance gaps.
Results-oriented and driven to achieve key procurement metrics.
