Head Chef

We are looking for a Head Chef who is passionate, trained and proficient in the production of high quality food for a busy breakfast/lunch Middle Eastern Mediterranean restaurant in Cape Town CBD.

Experience and Requirements

1. Applicant must have a culinary certificate or diploma.
2. 4-5 years of working experience in a fast-paced restaurant of high standard.
3. Driver’s license, or able to commute to Cape Town CBD.
4. Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities & Duties

1. Ensure that all production of food is prepared to the required standards.
2. Running the pass, plating, food quality control, food portion control.
3. Take leadership and properly communicate orders with kitchen staff.
4. Managing all food stations and kitchen staff.
5. Stock take, stock management and placing orders, receiving orders.
6. Control food costs and minimize waste.
7. Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment.
8. Work with executive chef to improve dishes and kitchen performance.
9. Making sure food is cooked properly to the right temperature.
10. Maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
11. Assisting in cooking wherever needed.
