Group Reporting Accountant

Overview

As the Group Reporting Accountant, you will support the Group Reporting and Finance Manager as well as the shared service finance team (accountants) with various accounting tasks. The main objectives will be assisting with the Group and Subsidiary audits, whilst assisting the shared services finance team with the review of monthly ledgers, ensuring completeness, compliance and accuracy thereof across entities processed by the shared service center. You will be keen to learn and enjoy a fast-paced working environment. The role will be accountable for but not limited to our EMEA, APAC and AMERICA entities and has the scope to develop more. The pace of growth in the industry will mean that you will need to be a self-starter, flexible and able to manage many different work streams at once.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the Group Reporting and Finance Manager in the Group and Subsidiary audits, as well as other key tasks such as Group cash management and forecasting.
2. Support the Shared Service Lead in managing a team of accountants, and provide technical accounting support as required.
3. Ensure quality of key financial controls and governance.
4. Produce month-end financial ledgers to time, liaising with local accountants and uploading accurate data for relevant entities.
5. Ensure month-end review of detailed balance sheet and sub-ledgers, payroll and tax reconciliations – drive consistency in approach and format.
6. Oversight of monthly closure of bank, including reconciliations (and members) and revaluations.
7. Ensuring accountants maintain detailed subsidiary ledgers - asset registers and monthly accounting of depreciation, debtors, creditors, members accounts.
8. Monitoring of aged debtors and creditors.
9. Key contact for local and group audits and liaising with auditors.
10. Ensuring accountants maintain the cashbooks and cashflows for business entities.
11. Ensure correct cost centre allocations for costs in line with the Ten MAID system.
12. Supporting operations teams by providing necessary reports and analysis.
13. Assist with month-end financial reports.
14. Assist accountants with posting journal entries.
15. Balance sheet reconciliations and review of accountants’ reconciliations by assisting team members to ensure they are complete and on standard.
16. Assist with ad-hoc group postings and maintaining holding company ledgers and postings.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Supporting Finance on projects and tasks.
2. Supporting Ops teams by providing necessary reports and analysis.
3. Any other tasks and projects required by the wider finance team, on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements:

Skills & Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance.
2. Registered CA(SA), CIMA, SAIPA Professional Accountant (SA) or Associate General Accountant AGA (SA).
3. Minimum of 4 years of practical work experience in accounting or finance roles.
4. Minimum 2 years experience managing people.
5. Experience of shared service/finance operations management in a global/multi-site organisation (beneficial).
6. Experience of creating and maintaining robust controls within centralised finance operations.
7. Strong leadership and management skills driving “Best in Class” approach.
8. Passion for automation and building efficient processes.
9. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS), financial regulations, and taxation laws.
10. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
11. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, and engineering.
12. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
13. Strong ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality in financial matters.
14. Self-motivation, excellent communication, teamworking, and interpersonal skills.
15. An analytical mind, keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.
16. Deliver to tight deadlines, for example, month end closures.
17. Experience in a Hospitality / Travel industry preferred.
18. Knowledge of financial systems in particular Microsoft Dynamics Business Central General Ledger (Previously Navision) beneficial but not essential.
