Engineering design of hydraulic infrastructure including bulk pipeline and pipe network design, sewer and stormwater network design, water and wastewater treatment plant hydraulic design with guidance and inputs from senior engineer.
Assist in the construction monitoring to ensure that the project remains within budget and complies with specifications.
Assist with monthly cashflows and progress reports to be compiled based on the daily measurements on site and submitted timeously to the Resident Engineer.
Report to the Resident Engineer and liaise with subcontractors.
Assist with contract administration duties.
Assist with minutes taking.
Assist to measure and prepare monthly progress payment certificates and submit final drafts to the Resident Engineer.
Adherence to quality management and quality control procedures using the project related CDE and continuous coordinating with the Documents Controller to ensure everything is correctly captured and issued as per the Quality system.
Keep a daily diary of construction activities and progress.
Assist with the preparation of monthly progress reports.
Assist with the continuous compilation of as-built drawings prior to approving the portion of works to ensure adherence to the designs and inform the Contracts Engineer immediately of any deviation to the design.
Capture all testing requirements as per the QMS on the CDE and summarise the results. Ensure that any deviation is immediately brought to the Resident Engineer’s attention.
Using company standard collaboration and coordination tools in line with our Digital Ways of Working.
Communicate proactively any potential alternatives, deviations and issues encountered during construction to the Resident Engineer.
Representing the civil design team and leading the coordination efforts on multi-disciplinary projects.
3D modelling and coordination of infrastructure.
Preparing design deliverables including design reports, models, BOQs, drawings, etc.
Using company standard collaboration and coordination tools such as BIM360, ACC.
Automation of daily workflows is welcomed and encouraged.
Minimum required qualification:
Eng/B.Sc. Civil Engineering.
Candidate registration with ECSA preferred.
Minimum experience, knowledge & skills:
Computational design and site thinking.
Experience with pipeline and pipe network modelling, analysis, and design for pressure and gravity networks.
Basic understanding of Process Flow Diagrams and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.
Strong multi-disciplinary coordination skills.
Basic knowledge of pump station design will be advantageous.
BIM implementation – Creating/using BEPs and TIDPs while applying CDE principles.
Experience in the following software and applications:
Experience with hydraulic analysis software packages essential.
Working knowledge of EPANET and EPASWMM.
Using BIM360, ACC or similar as a collaboration platform.
Some exposure to MS Office packages including Word and Excel essential.
