Job description

Position: Golf Director

The purpose of the Director of Golf at the Golf Club is primarily to lead the golf aspect of the member and guest experience. The on-course experience forms an integral part of the overall value-proposition. The incumbent Director of Golf is required to ensure that all team members in this department are certain of the standards they are required to meet. It is also the Director's responsibility to ensure that the golf operations team are guided while on the job to help with skills development.

The following duties and responsibilities provide a high-level overview of the day-to-day expectations of the Director of Golf in terms of the various facets of this job title.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT:

  1. The overall management of the Club's golf.
  2. Ensure all role-players within the golf operations department are aware and understanding of what is required from them on a day-to-day basis.
  3. Organise and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure all staff are kept abreast of happenings in the department and to ascertain current challenges.
  4. Conduct quarterly appraisals with all staff members within the golf operations.
  5. Provide feedback and on-the-job guidance to staff in between quarterly appraisals to assist with learning and weekly reporting to the CEO regarding all facets of performance in the golf operations department.

ORGANISATION & CONTROLS:

  1. Observation of all areas within the golf operations department to ensure that optimal service is being provided at a high level.
  2. Check the activities of golf operations, inspect the running of work, and draft reports where applicable.
  3. Plan, organise, and coordinate the day-to-day running of the golf operations team.
  4. Implement controls and practices, and monitor these, with the purpose of ensuring that golf operations are performing work to the desired levels of productivity and cost-efficiency.
  5. Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a safe-to-use condition.
  6. Implement controls and monitor adherence to these controls as it relates to the safekeeping, maintenance, cleanliness, and/or tidiness of all Estate property assigned to the golf operations team.
  7. Maintain and improve service levels on an ongoing basis.
