We are looking for a Global Chemicals Compliance Expert who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment to join us in our Health, Safety & Wellbeing department, based in our site in Bulle, Switzerland or Braine-l’Alleud, Belgique.

About the role
As a Chemicals Compliance Expert, you will ensure UCB products portfolio comply with global chemical regulations like REACH and CLP/GHS. You will be the main point of contact for chemical compliance and its practical application in daily business. This role involves defining and implementing the chemicals management system, including processes and tools, to manage chemical inventory, assess risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement. Additionally, you will provide leadership to support informed decision-making about the chemicals used in products, ensuring they meet both regulatory requirements and internal safety and sustainability standards.

Who you’ll work with
Reporting to UCB Product Safety Stewardship Lead, you will lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement in chemical management program.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure global compliance for UCB products portfolio to existing and upcoming chemicals regulations.
  • Maintain and improve the chemicals management system.
  • Author and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ensure compliance to REACH regulations (EU, UK..) & CLP: e.g volume tracking. Reporting.
  • Provide regulatory briefings, trainings & guidelines to internal and external key stakeholders (CMOs, suppliers).
  • Embed regulatory requirements & changes in products stewardship processes.
  • Liaise with the Regulatory Intelligence Network RIN leaders to keep track of regulatory updates, amend existing processes and develop strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory changes related to chemicals: eg SOP, guideline).

Interested?
For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in chemistry or related field and at least 5 years of experience in a multinational industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with CMOs and suppliers to ensure they meet chemical compliance standards and in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to chemical compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, particularly those involving the implementation of new tools and systems.
  • Proficiency in maintaining up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other required documentation.
  • Deep understanding of global chemical regulations including REACH, TSCA, CLP, GHS, and country-specific chemical control laws.
