Requirements

  1. Be in possession of a post-graduate degree in Marketing, Tourism Management, Business Management or a related field.
  2. 6-8 years proven experience in a leadership role in tourism marketing.
  3. Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies including search engine optimisation, search engine marketing, social media marketing, and content creation.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Excellent analytical skills.
  6. Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns.
  7. Project management skills.
  8. Working knowledge of relevant legislation.
  9. Understand how the media and advertising industry works.
  10. Understand the service industry and customer services environment.
  11. Budget management.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct market research to identify target demographics, tourism trends, and competitor analysis and develop and implement a comprehensive tourism marketing strategy.
  2. Analyse market trends and competition to adjust strategies for growth and market positioning.
  3. Create compelling marketing materials and messaging that highlight the unique selling points of the various SANParks destinations.
  4. Set measurable marketing KPIs for tourism growth, marketing performance and revenue generation, and track performance against targets.
  5. Use website analytics and generate reports on key marketing metrics to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  6. Lead, manage and support the implementation of marketing activities in the regions.
  7. Design and ensure the execution of approved marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  8. Develop and manage a consistent destination brand identity across all marketing materials and communications.
  9. Ensure brand messaging is aligned with the overall tourism strategy and target audience.
  10. Manage the SANParks website and social media channels.
  11. Manage the marketing budget and optimize spending across different initiatives.
  12. Manage contracts for services (social media, advertising, graphic design, etc.).
  13. Manage the human capital of the department including the recruitment, management, and mentoring of a team of marketing professionals including digital marketers, content creators, and PR specialists.
  14. Build and maintain strong relationships with key tourism stakeholders.
