General Manager: Reporting and Governance
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To align with the company's Vision and Strategy, "Journey to ," this role is established to address the growing need for expertise in technical accounting, financial controls, and comprehensive financial reporting.
The General Manager of Reporting and Governance will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, application of technical accounting principles, including Annual Financial Statements (AFS) preparation, ensuring robust governance, and contributing to the organisation's strategic initiatives.
QUALIFICATION(S) AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (essential).
- Post graduate degree in accounting (essential).
- Professional certification CA(SA) (essential).
- Minimum of 10 years in financial reporting, governance, or technical accounting roles.
- Proven experience in managing AFS preparation and oversight.
- Familiarity with listing processes and regulatory requirements (advantageous).
HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS:
- Provide expert guidance on technical accounting matters in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Develop and maintain frameworks to uphold ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Responsible for driving large scale business improvement initiatives and implementing business improvement and efficiency measures across the Finance Department.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the finance team, Foskor Board of Directors, EXCO, external strategic partners and other Business Division leaders.
- Drive the development and support the execution of the governance framework, policies and procedures to facilitate operational guidelines and legislative requirements within the finance function.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and advisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Represent the organization in discussions with investors and potential listing partners.
- Use data analytics to uncover insights and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Regularly review and update financial controls to mitigate risks and support operational efficiency.
