Head : Corporate Risk Solutions – Life MMH-3

Role Purpose: The Head : Corporate Risk Solutions ('CRS') is holistically responsible for the Guardrisk Life CRS team. As the manager of a business unit in Guardrisk Life, the Head is responsible for all client-facing elements of the business unit, financial performance, new business objectives, operational matters, and for managing the portfolio managers in the CRS team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clients: Consult with clients on their Life insurance business goals, focusing on employee benefits to ensure alignment of objectives between Guardrisk Life and its stakeholders. Take overall responsibility for resolving all CRS client matters, including financial, legal, actuarial, operational, reinsurance, risk, and compliance concerns.
  2. Business Development: Responsible for taking the CRS value proposition to the market to ensure continued growth. Identify strategically important new business opportunities and tailor solutions to meet clients' needs. Structure transactions and identify corporate transaction opportunities for Guardrisk Life.
  3. Technical: Support CRS portfolio managers in resolving client queries. Advise on various elements of the insurance value chain, including cell captives and reinsurance. Participate in product design discussions and manage the annual renewal process of policies.
  4. Team Management: Manage the portfolio managers in the CRS team, facilitate insurance technical training, and ensure effective collaboration within Guardrisk Life.

Requirements:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification: BCom, BSc, Law, etc.
  2. Relevant professional qualification: Accountant, Actuary, Attorney, etc.
  3. FAIS Compliant; RE5 and RE1 is advantageous.
  4. At least 5-10 years' experience in the Life insurance industry.
  5. At least 5 years' experience in a leadership position.
  6. Commercial and client-facing experience is essential.
  7. Strong Life insurance technical knowledge and understanding, focusing on employee benefits.
  8. Strong actuarial and/or accounting skills preferred.
  9. Deal-making and structuring experience preferred.
