Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a General Manager at House of Task in Sandton.

The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company's operations, managing projects, leading teams, developing strategies for growth, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality interior design, shopfitting, and construction services. The General Manager needs to have a good technical knowledge of the building design and construction industry.

Good management and business development skills are essential to this role. A desire to manage successful projects that achieve the required criteria of time, cost, and quality is of utmost importance.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Business, or related field
- Project Management, Team Leadership, and Strategic Planning skills
- Experience in the interior design, construction, or related industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Financial Management and Budgeting skills
- Experience in business development and client relationship management
- Knowledge of design software and industry trends
- Minimum of at least 5 years of experience in a managerial role

Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor and report progress of the works for all in-house projects
- All project administration i.e. liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and other co-workers
- Project co-ordination and management of projects, contractors and professional teams for internal units / portfolios
- Research, develop and implement systems, procedures and structures that would enhance the functioning and productivity of House of Task and ensure policies and procedures are implemented consistently
- Keep abreast of market trends to ensure optimum decision-making
- Respond to and resolve a wide range of queries, channeling to the appropriate area as necessary
- General housekeeping with regards to studio admin, archiving and daily processes
- Design Implementation: Manage all aspects of projects, from concepts, project management to completion
- Compile and oversee full drawing packs and conceptual designs.
- Ensure that role-players approve projects
- Drive projects independently, do schemes, presentation boards and consult with clients
- Verify that design projects comply with all statutory and building regulations.
- Redline and get approval from Management on technical packs before issuing
- Taking and checking on site measurement for space planning and design
- Must be able to work under pressure, have attention to detail, process concepts & information accurately
- Meeting with contractors on site
- Compile full specification documents and assist in council submissions.
- Quantity Surveyor: Manage, monitor and report progress of the costings for all in-house projects
- Liaison with the QS in terms of costings
- Review, recommend and implement systems that will ensure seamless workflow in the QS department
- Set and monitor timelines for deliverables
- Compile weekly overall reports for the management to be updated on the costing progress for all projects
- Administration: Liaise with management and staff regarding a wide range of ongoing matters.
- Monitor progress and ensure all actions and paperwork are coordinated in preparation for meetings, in line with deadlines of projects
- Producing documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations
- Arranging & attending a high volume of online and face-to-face meetings with prospects, doing C-Level presentations, drafting proposals and contract documents
- Ad-hoc duties as requested.
- Responsible for providing professional assistance and support to Design Team, QS and Procurement and to provide controls as well as administering and coordinating the operational activities in accordance with policies, goals and objectives set out
- Relationship management, including the promotion and maintenance of good working relations and partnerships with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers, as well as promoting the image of House of Task, both internally and externally
- Project manage initiatives for all direct reports, ensuring deadlines are met, follow-up on deliverables and coordinate feedback to present a unified front that best reflects overall objectives
- Demonstrate inclusive, collaborative and engaging approach; including the ability to consult, facilitate, negotiate and influence a broad range of people at all levels
- Communications of progress, variation orders, site instructions, risks, quality, site issues and any other project related activities to the relevant parties.
- Work closely with various colleagues, including architects, artists, contractors, painters, upholsters and building inspectors
- Lead service delivery for supply chain management teams and build client relationships
- Bring in perspectives to improve the transformation opportunity for existing/new clients to bring industry knowledge, outstanding capabilities, innovation and ground-breaking technology to our clients.
- Submit daily/weekly reports to give regulated communication on tasks.
