General Manager

A leading steel manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee production operations, ensure process efficiency, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements:

1. B-Degree (NQF 8 / 10) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred)
2. Management Development Program (Advantageous)
3. Proven expertise in both production and maintenance functions
4. Experience in leading lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
5. 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment
6. 3 years' experience in a managerial role

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Management: Oversee daily production operations, ensuring adherence to schedules, targets, and quality standards
2. Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and promote a zero-harm culture
3. Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and motivate production staff to achieve optimal performance
4. Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
5. Quality Control & Assurance: Coordinate with quality control teams to maintain product excellence
6. Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with maintenance, supply chain, and logistics to ensure seamless operations
7. Production Reporting & KPIs: Monitor key performance metrics and present insights to senior management
8. Budget & Cost Control: Manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations
9. Problem-Solving & Downtime Management: Address production challenges proactively and implement solutions to minimize disruptions.
