Job Title: Mine Safety Officer

Contract Duration: FTC 6 Months

Location: North West

Grade: Rneg

Qualifications:

1. Grade 12 or equivalent
2. Comsoc 1 and 2 or SAMTRAC essential
3. Computer literate (Word and Excel)
4. Diploma or Degree in Risk Management will be an advantage

Experience:

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience
2. Experience in investigations and reporting
3. Safety training experience

Duties:

1. Maintain SHERQ system for the business unit
2. Enforce compliance as per MHS Act requirements
3. Incident investigation
4. Maintain and review processes and procedures according to ISO standards
5. Audit, report findings and implement corrective actions
6. Perform Risk Assessments
7. Audit compliance of sub-contractors
8. Advise Plant Manager on related SHERQ issues
9. Act as proxy for the company
10. Training, change and people management
11. Manage required safety documentation – near miss, HIRA books etc.
