Freight Forwarding Clerk

About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Freight Forwarding Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team. This role involves managing and coordinating shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and maintaining efficient freight forwarding operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shipment Coordination: Manage and track freight shipments, ensuring timely pickup, transit, and delivery.
• Documentation Management: Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs declarations, SAD500/SAD550, EUR1, and SADC certificates.
• Client & Carrier Communication: Act as a liaison between clients, carriers, and internal teams, providing updates and resolving queries.
• Customs Compliance: Ensure all shipments meet local and international customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
• Problem Resolution: Address and resolve issues related to transportation delays, documentation discrepancies, or customs compliance.
• Tracking & Reporting: Maintain accurate shipment records and provide clients with regular status updates.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management are advantageous.
• Experience: 2-5 years in freight forwarding or logistics, with experience in both imports and exports.
  Technical Skills: Proficiency in freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, ShipShape) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of customs procedures and documentation requirements.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with stakeholders.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shipments efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
