Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of a Forklift Mechanic is to diagnose, service, and maintain mechanical lifting equipment, including powered and non-powered machinery. This role involves performing service calls, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs, ensuring that equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
o Diagnose and repair issues in forklifts, lift trucks, pump jacks, and hydraulic systems.
o Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and battery servicing.
o Conduct repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
o Disassemble and reassemble equipment as necessary for major repairs. - Service Calls:
o Respond to on-site service requests, both indoors and outdoors, in various environmental conditions.
o Coordinate with warehouse and client personnel to diagnose and resolve equipment problems. - Compliance and Safety:
o Complete all safety checklists, required forms, and documentation.
o Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards. - Inventory and Tools Management:
o Maintain tools, shop supplies, and company-provided vehicles.
o Manage company stock responsibly, ensuring accurate inventory records. - Client Interaction:
o Communicate effectively with clients to ensure satisfaction and build relationships.
o Assist in sales and promotional activities when needed. - Technical Proficiency:
o Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and prints.
o Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and apply information from technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer-based systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call availability for emergency service requests.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and perform demanding tasks in various environments.
