Job description

If you have a keen eye for quality, a love for innovation, and a deep understanding of food safety and product development, this is your chance to be part of one of the most celebrated farm-to-table destinations in the Cape Winelands.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS :

  1. BSc Food Science or BTech Food Technology degree with 8-10 years experience (retail experience will be advantageous)
  2. Proven, relevant industry experience and knowledge across a wide range of products
  3. Understanding of high- and low-risk food processing and efficient segregation
  4. Understanding of cold chain management and critical control factors regarding maintenance of food products in optimum state
  5. Practical experience in and understanding of different food preparation stages and processes
  6. Knowledge of technical processes and principles, i.e. HACCP, GMP, root cause analysis, supply chain, raw materials, micro and listeria management
  7. Technical product knowledge, i.e. product characteristics, raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes, and quality and safety parameters
  8. Knowledge of packaging functionality and application
  9. Understanding of environmental management and sustainability
  10. MUST be fluent in Afrikaans and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  11. A project management approach for the delivery of key projects
  12. Identify problems and implement effective solutions in collaboration with your supplier base
  13. Well-versed in relevant legislation and ability to play an influencing role
  14. Team-player attitude with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team
  15. Confident and able to steer decisions and principles to protect brand values
  16. Excellence, high standards, and continuous improvement mindset
  17. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
  18. Well-developed sensory skills, with diverse food experience and exposure
  19. Sound business acumen and judgment, with a problem-solving approach
  20. Exceptional project management, strategic development, and planning skills
  21. Networking and influencing skills
  22. Proactive, innovative, and entrepreneurial approach
  23. Flexible with an ability and willingness to travel
  24. Excellent computer skills in all facets of use as a technical tool
