Requirements:

  1. Proven work experience as a Food Safety and Quality Manager in the Food Industry.
  2. Experience in implementing and maintaining FSSC, AIB, and HACCP standards is essential; ISO is advantageous.
  3. Health & Safety / OHSA training advantageous.
  4. BSc / MSc Food Science OR BTech / MTech Food Technology.
  5. Expertise in quality management procedures, systems, and best practices.
  6. Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
  7. Minimum of 3 years' work experience at management level.
  8. Leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
  9. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  10. Matric Grade 12 certificate essential.
  11. Own vehicle and driver's license.

About the Role:

  1. Implement, maintain, and improve the Food Safety and Quality Management system and ensure continued business compliance with it and its certification against required certification standards.
  2. Manage effective daily quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality products are continuously supplied to customers.
  3. Ensure food safety and quality management are in place and maintained.
  4. Legal and customer-required certified food safety and quality management systems must be maintained, i.e., AIB, GFSI, FSSC, SANS, and ISO.
  5. Manage and maintain the food safety and quality management systems and ensure business compliance with the system.
  6. Manage various divisions in a complex manufacturing process.
  7. Manage external audits and compliance to external audit/certification standards.
  8. Control documentation and communication of the food safety and quality management system and system updates/changes.
  9. Training and awareness on the food safety and quality management system.
  10. Manage and maintain daily quality assurance processes to ensure final product quality.
  11. Manage the activities and effectiveness of the support cleaning and sanitation team.
  12. Manage the raw material and supplier approval process to ensure food safety and control the quality of raw materials.
  13. Develop harmonious working relationships within the team and manage disciplinary offences.
  14. Manage the performance and development of team members.
  15. Maintain compliance with health & safety policies and rules.
  16. Maintain and improve standard operating procedures for quality assurance and related business areas.
  17. Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of recipe formulations.
