Are you a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Auditor with a robust finance background? Our client, a prominent Wholesale and Retail (FMCG) trading entity based in Johannesburg - Gauteng, is seeking a talented Internal Auditor to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance operational effectiveness and contribute to the company's success.

Location: Johannesburg - Gauteng (with potential travel to other Provinces)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute and oversee the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management, ensuring operational effectiveness, financial accuracy, and compliance with all relevant directives and regulations.
  2. Define the scope of internal audits, and gather, analyse, and evaluate accounting documentation, prior reports, data, and flowcharts.
  3. Prepare and deliver reports that detail audit findings and document the audit process.
  4. Provide objective, independent advice to validate legality, achieve goals, and improve processes.
  5. Identify vulnerabilities, recommend measures for risk mitigation, and suggest cost-saving opportunities.
  6. Maintain ongoing communication with management and the audit committee.
  7. Document audit processes and prepare findings memorandums.
  8. Conduct follow-up audits to track the implementation of management's corrective actions.
  9. Continuously update knowledge on industry rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as an Internal Auditor or Senior Auditor, ideally within the FMCG sector.
  2. Advanced skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
  3. Ability to handle large volumes of data and compile detailed reports.
  4. In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Additional Duties:
  1. Ensure compliance with finance and store policies and procedures.
  2. Attend bi-annual stock-takes to document processes, conduct independent verifications, and report findings.
  3. Travel nationally between stores for internal auditing functions.
  4. Safeguard company assets, including stock, equipment, and cash.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:
  1. Minimum Grade 12; Degree or qualification in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or Finance.
  2. Proven track record in internal auditing or similar auditing functions.
  3. At least 2 years of experience in the retail sector, with 2-5 years of internal audit experience in an FMCG environment being highly advantageous.
  4. An administration qualification is a plus if relevant skills are demonstrated.

Specific Requirements:
  1. Must have reliable transport.
  2. Experience in a similar fast-paced role and willingness to travel for audits and site inspections on an ad hoc basis.

Computer Proficiency:
  1. Experience with Pastel (required), Evolution (advantageous), SAP (required), and Excel (required). Knowledge of Arch is a plus.
