Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, Wynberg

Salary: R25 000 PM NEG

A leading FMCG company specializing in importing and distributing premium Italian food products and beverages, including internationally recognized mineral waters, services the retail and hospitality sectors across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa through a national distribution network.

The DC Manager will oversee all distribution operations at the Wynberg, Johannesburg facility. The role ensures the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining operational excellence to support the company’s service guarantee. The DC Manager will lead a team, manage logistics, and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity, accuracy, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management
   • Oversee daily operations of the Distribution Centre, including inbound and outbound logistics.
   • Ensure accurate inventory management, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and minimizing stock discrepancies.
   • Coordinate order processing, picking, packing, and dispatching to meet delivery deadlines.
   • Monitor and optimize warehouse space utilization.
   • Ensure adherence to company policies, including health and safety standards.
2. Team Leadership
   • Lead, manage, and develop a team of warehouse staff and drivers.
   • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
   • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills.
   • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
3. Logistics and Fleet Management
   • Oversee fleet management to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
   • Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
   • Develop and maintain efficient delivery routes to meet customer service expectations.
4. Customer Service
   • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address client requirements and resolve delivery issues promptly.
   • Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
5. Continuous Improvement
   • Analyze key performance metrics and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
   • Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality.
   • Implement and maintain warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies.
6. Reporting and Compliance
   • Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment, and delivery timelines.
   • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including occupational health and safety standards.
   • Conduct audits and implement corrective actions to maintain operational integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within a fast-paced distribution environment.
• Proven experience in managing warehouse operations and logistics.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating teams.
• Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Experience in the food and beverage industry.
• Knowledge of import/export logistics and regulations.
• Familiarity with Italian food products and beverages is an advantage.
