ABOUT MAMATWAN

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese-rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position. As a fitter, you will be responsible for timely installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment to ensure that mining activities are executed in a safe manner, as well as operate equipment and test all working parts in functional areas to ensure proper utilization.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

1. Complete hard copies of Job Cards and capture Job Cards on SAP;
2. Provide input into maintenance Task Lists; Report deviations observed during inspections to ensure proper planning prior to execution;
3. Interprets and coordinates pre-work about repairs, planned and predictive maintenance;
4. Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on machines or equipment;
5. Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
6. Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
7. Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
8. Coordinates activities associated with troubleshooting and repairing maintenance equipment.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

1. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter in a mining environment;
2. In-depth knowledge on inspection & repairs of pumps;
3. In-depth knowledge of the workings of Jaw and Cone Crushers;
4. Experience in working on conveyor belts;
5. In-depth knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications for this role are:

1. Grade 12 with mathematics;
2. Fitter trade.
