The successful candidate will report to the Fitter or nominee.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in ensuring optimal availability and reliability of mining equipment
2. Support maintenance activities, including modifications and repairs
3. Conduct mini risk assessments within the work area
4. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas
5. Ensure all tools are complete and in safe working condition
6. Work independently and under supervision to complete assigned tasks
7. Perform tasks such as removing and replacing hydraulic hoses, greasing machines, shank replacements
8. Assist artisans in tasks like removing and replacing engines, cylinders, gearboxes, pumps, tyres, and pulleys
9. Follow planned maintenance and production schedules to support production targets
10. Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of machinery and tools
11. Report defects and tool conditions to the Chargehand / Foreman
12. Operate stationary and mobile engineering equipment
13. Perform lock-out procedures when required
14. Assist artisans with maintenance of primary and secondary equipment
15. Respond to breakdowns promptly to restore equipment availability

Requirements

Minimum Educational Requirements

1. Grade 10 / Standard 08 Certificate
2. Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence
3. Advantageous : Operative Course Certificate

Experience Requirements

3 months of practical, trade-related experience in Engineering in a mining environment

Selection Criteria & Employment Conditions

Selection will be based on the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Recruitment Operating Procedure. Consideration will be given to the candidate’s fit with company values.

The successful candidate must be certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 / 1996. Employment Equity Plan and Mining Charter objectives will be considered.
