Financial Manager (CA(SA) - 5 month contract

High profile Investment company seeks an experienced CA(SA) as a senior FM on a 5 month contract starting 1 May 2025. Candidate will report to the CFO.

Candidate must:

1. Be a CA(SA) with minimum 5 years post articles experience.
2. Be available to start the contract on 1 May 2025
3. Have working experience from within the Investment / Financial Services / Banking sector.
4. Have solid experience in IFRS, calculating NCI and change in control, consolidations and corporate tax.
5. Be literate on Sage, Hyperion, Onestream.
6. Have staff supervision experience.

Full duties will include:

1. Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the group, such as investment accounting, banking, invoicing, maintenance of the general ledger system and accounts.
2. Oversee, supervise and direct the work performed by the two accountants.
3. Approval of journals prepared by accountants.
4. Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced on an accurate and timely basis to include bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors and inter-company accounts.
5. Establish and ensure implementation and adherence to finance policies, procedures and systems including seeking out methods for minimising financial risk to the company.
6. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting.
7. Preparation of accounting opinion and tax opinion where none was obtained and presentation of the opinion to the team.
8. Produce and distribute monthly management reports to agreed timeframes and distribute it to various stakeholders.
9. Produce detailed quarterly cash flow forecasts to form the basis for the working capital where applicable for going concern purposes.
10. Produce financial reports detailing actual expenditure against forecast to agreed timescales.
11. Prepare solvency and liquidity assessments as and when required to facilitate investment and financing transactions.
12. Produce required financial reports, risk management reports and management accounts for internal and external distribution including to members of the Board of Directors, stakeholder groupings, executives, and portfolio investment entities.
13. Produce annual financial reports and statements to agreed timeframes to comply with International Financial Reporting standards, IFRS for SME, South African Companies Act, the South African Income Taxation Act and other relevant legislation and legal frameworks.
14. Prepare complex tax calculations and review tax calculation prepared by the accountants.
15. Prepare responses to SARS requests for information or verification.
16. Review annual financial statement prepared by the accountants.
17. Review and prepare the consolidation on OneStream during year end and quarterly basis including NCI proofs.
18. Maintain current standing with all mandated CIPC and SARS and where relevant for trusts - benefits registrations and requirements, including submissions of payments and reports (CIPC,SARS, FICA etc). This may entail acting as the Public officer on some group entities for the duration of the period.
19. Ensure appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process.
20. Stay up to date with technical developments relevant to the role (changes in IFRS, JSE Listing Requirements and other regulatory changes).
21. Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
