Job description

The Financial Manager is responsible for the financial deliverables of the department, i.e., financial reporting, data analysis, creditor payments, etc. The Financial Manager will produce accurate Financial Reports and assist in developing strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of BDO. The Financial Manager will ensure that various timelines are strictly met, adhering to all applicable tax regulations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, maintain, and review accounting records and financial controls for assigned service lines on an ongoing basis.
  2. Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, including monthly variance analysis and service line query resolution.
  3. Present these management accounts to senior leadership.
  4. Oversee the accounting records and financial control adherence, implementing new controls for assigned service lines and liaising with the Business Unit Heads.
  5. Review assigned service lines' monthly work in progress and debtors for reasonability.
  6. Assist in the preparation and review of the annual financial statements and consolidations where applicable, including IFRS disclosures for the assigned company.
  7. Review the work of accountants and bookkeepers, assisting with problem-solving where required.
  8. Process ad hoc journals.
  9. Manage Statucor debtors.
  10. Review and release weekly and monthly payments of service lines.
  11. Review salary variances for reasonability and release salary payments of service lines.
  12. Prepare ad hoc reconciliations.
  13. Facilitate the budget process for assigned service lines.
  14. Process monthly consolidation and elimination entries where applicable.
  15. Assist with tax submissions and compliance matters.
  16. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  17. Review monthly balance sheet and income statement.
  18. Ensure intercompany loan accounts are agreed and balanced on a monthly basis.
  19. Assist in the preparation of annual income tax and deferred tax calculations and six-monthly tax estimates, consulting with tax compliance to ensure deadlines are met.
  20. Assist in ad hoc projects as and when required.

Requirements

  1. Qualifications / Recognition of Prior Learning equivalent: BCom Hons CTA (would be advantageous)
  2. Work Experience: 10 – 12 years' experience within a management role.
  3. Knowledge: Professional Services experience advantageous.
  4. Fundamental understanding of business operations.
  5. Accurate and detail-oriented.
  6. Experience with Maconomy (advantageous).
  7. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to work as a team member.
  9. Good oral and written communication skills.
